The research activities of Vision Engineering aim to widen the kwnoledge on corneal tissue biomechanics and optimize the results of the eye surgical techniques, such as phacoemulsification, corneal transplantation and refractive surgery. Moreover, Vision Engineering aims to introduce innovative methods and techniques for the early diagnosis and treatment of retinal diseases, including Adaptive Optics and nanotargeted drug delivery..

Dr. Marco Lombardo is responsible for various assorted experimental and clinical research projects on refractive surgery, femtosecond laser-assisted corneal surgery, cure for keratoconus (cross-linking) and application of Adaptive Optics Ophthalmoscopy in the clinical environment.
