Former preclinical outcomes published on the innovative UV-A theranostic device

The former preclinical outcomes on the innovative theranostic UV-A device for personalized corneal cross-linking of keratoconus have been published on the July 2018 issue of Journal of Biophotonics. For the importance, the manuscript had the cover of the journal issue.
The manuscript presents the efficacy of the innovative UV-A device in assessing riboflavin concentration in the cornea and determing  treatment efficacy in real time.
Vision Engineering Italy is leader in treating corneal disorders with smart innovative solutions.

Equivalence between two UV-A irradiation protocols

Pre-clinical outcomes on efficacy of the theranostic UV-A device for treating keratoconus

The pre-clinical results on the UV-A theranostic device for the treatment of keratoconus have been published
in the January 2019 issue of the prestigious scientific journal Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery.
In this manuscript, the authors Marco and Giuseppe Lombardo, have demonstrated how the device measures
in real time
the concentration of riboflavin in the cornea and how two different UV-A irradiation protocols succeed
in photopolymerizing the corneal tissue effectively. Thanks to theranostics it will soon be possible
to personalize corneal cross-linking treatment in order that it will be effective in every patient,
regardless of the treatment protocol chosen by the surgeon. Chromo4Vis will guide the eye surgeon
to perform each treatment effectively and safely.

POR-FESR-Chromo4Vis-1024x559[1]

Chromo4Vis is co-founded by POR FESR Lazio 2014-2020

The Programma Operativo Regionale Fondo Europeo Sviluppo Regionale, or POR-FESR, is the instrument through which Lazio region, thanks to €14 millons made available by the European Union, has the scope to reinforce and sustain the growth of the regional firms, favoring the application of the Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) in all the specialization areas of the regional Smart Specialisation, including Life Sciences.

Vision Engineering Italy srl is one of the selected firm by Lazio Region for this growth program.

The POR FESR Lazio funding allows Vision Engineering Italy srl to engineer Chromo4Vis, which is the first available theranostic device for treating keratoconus, for CE approval.
